Network Engineer / Cisco Network Technician

Position Overview

Gr8ttek is seeking skilled Network Engineers and Network Technicians with hands-on Cisco networking experience to support enterprise infrastructure for a major healthcare organization.

Springfield, OR (2 openings); 28-32/hour

We are looking for technical professionals who can independently configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network equipment, including Cisco routers, switches, and wireless infrastructure.

Candidates do not need to be network architects or have extensive network design experience. However, they must have practical experience configuring enterprise networking equipment and working with routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF.

This is an excellent opportunity for a networking professional seeking a long-term career opportunity through a six-month contract-to-hire assignment.

Key Responsibilities

· Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco network equipment.

· Perform hands-on configuration of enterprise routers and switches.

· Support BGP and OSPF routing configurations and troubleshooting.

· Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, WLAN, and SD-WAN connectivity issues.

· Configure and support VLANs, trunking, routing, and switching technologies.

· Diagnose network outages, connectivity issues, latency, and performance problems.

· Support enterprise wireless access points and controllers.

· Perform network equipment upgrades, configuration changes, and maintenance.

· Monitor network performance and respond to technical incidents.

· Assist senior network engineers with infrastructure improvements and deployments.

· Maintain accurate technical documentation and equipment records.

· Provide secondary desktop and laptop support when needed.

· Participate in on-call support as required.

Required Qualifications

· Hands-on experience supporting enterprise Cisco networking environments.

· Ability to configure routers and switches, not simply install or connect equipment.

· Working knowledge of BGP and OSPF routing protocols.

· Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, and Layer 2/Layer 3 networking.

· Experience diagnosing network connectivity and performance problems.

· Familiarity with enterprise wireless networking.

· Experience with network troubleshooting tools, logs, and monitoring systems.

· Strong technical documentation and communication skills.

· Ability to work independently and collaborate with technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

· Cisco CCNA certification or equivalent practical experience.

· Experience with Cisco Catalyst switches and enterprise routers.

· Exposure to SD-WAN environments.

· Experience with network monitoring platforms such as SolarWinds.

· Familiarity with Wireshark or packet analysis.

· Previous experience supporting networks in healthcare or other large enterprise environments.

· Experience providing desktop or laptop technical support.

Ideal Candidate

This is not a basic desktop support or cable installation position. Hands-on network configuration experience is essential.
