Description:
We are seeking a New Product Development Engineer to join an established manufacturing organization specializing in innovative plastic dispensing and packaging solutions.

This hands-on engineering role focuses on mechanical product design, thermoplastic injection molding, tooling development, prototyping, and product testing. The successful candidate will help bring new products from initial concept through design, validation, and full-scale manufacturing.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically inclined engineer who enjoys combining CAD design with hands-on troubleshooting, manufacturing collaboration, and product innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead new product development activities from concept and design through testing, qualification, and production launch.
• Design and develop mechanical components using SolidWorks, including 3D models, detailed 2D drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
• Develop and evaluate rapid prototypes and 3D-printed components to validate fit, form, function, and manufacturability.
• Support thermoplastic injection molding, mold design, tooling development, and production implementation.
• Coordinate the design, procurement, testing, and qualification of injection mold tooling and molded components.
• Develop and execute product test plans, dimensional inspections, and performance evaluations.
• Analyze test data, document results, and recommend design or process improvements.
• Troubleshoot existing products, molds, tooling, and automated manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, customers, and suppliers to resolve technical challenges and support product launches.
• Prepare engineering documentation, technical reports, specifications, and qualification records.
• Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and product data within ERP systems.
• Support supplier evaluations, technical reviews, and project scheduling to ensure successful product development.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of mechanical product design and development experience.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modeling, 2D drawings, dimensioning, and tolerancing.
• Working knowledge of thermoplastic injection molding, mold design, tooling development, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping and 3D printing.
• Experience developing test plans, conducting product testing, analyzing results, and preparing technical documentation.
• Proficiency with dimensional inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, indicators, optical comparators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs).
• Experience working with ERP or product data management systems, including BOM creation and maintenance.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, project management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and commercial teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing product development projects from initial concept through production launch.
• Experience with Micro-Vu dimensional inspection systems.
• Familiarity with JD Edwards (JDE) ERP software.
• Knowledge of calibration systems and measurement equipment documentation.
• Experience working directly with customers, suppliers, and manufacturing teams on product development initiatives.
