The Night Shift Lead Medication Aide– Medication Aide is responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents during overnight hours at Jasmine Estates Memory Care. This role combines direct resident care and medication administration with supervisory responsibilities, requiring strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to make informed decisions regarding resident care needs in a memory care environment.
The Night Shift Lead serves as the primary point of contact during overnight hours, ensuring continuity of care, responding appropriately to changes in resident condition, and communicating effectively with team members, leadership, and on-call healthcare professionals.
Provide hands-on assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including toileting, mobility, hygiene, and comfort care
Monitor residents throughout the night to ensure safety, dignity, and emotional well-being
Observe and assess changes in residents’ physical, cognitive, or emotional condition and respond appropriately
Make informed, timely decisions regarding resident care needs, escalating concerns to on-call nurses or leadership as required
Administer medications accurately and safely in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and state regulations
Monitor residents for medication effectiveness and potential side effects
Exercise sound judgment when addressing medication-related concerns, refusals, or adverse reactions
Accurately document medication administration and report concerns promptly
Maintain clear, timely, and professional communication with residents, families (as appropriate), team members, and on-call staff
Provide thorough shift reports and documentation to ensure continuity of care
Communicate changes in resident condition, incidents, or concerns clearly and promptly
Serve as a calm, reliable leader during emergencies or unexpected situations
Supervise and support night shift care staff, ensuring tasks are completed appropriately
Provide guidance, direction, and support to team members during the shift
Ensure compliance with facility policies, care plans, and safety procedures
Act as the facility’s responsible lead during overnight hours
Respond effectively to emergencies, falls, or behavioral concerns
Ensure a safe, secure, and orderly environment throughout the night
Follow infection control, confidentiality (HIPAA), and memory care best practices
Current Medication Aide / Care Aide certification (as required by state regulations)
Experience in memory care, assisted living, or long-term care preferred
Supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Demonstrated ability to make informed, independent decisions regarding resident care
Compassionate, patient, and professional approach to dementia care
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities
Ability to remain calm and effective during overnight and emergency situations
