This position will be assigned to the National Reconnaissance Offices' (NRO)
Office of Inspector General (OIG). As a CIA officer working as part of the NRO OIG, you will report to the NRO's Inspector General.
This occupational series comprises Senior Intelligence Service positions concerned with executive leadership, management, and oversight responsibilities for the collection, analysis, production, and dissemination of information and initiatives that directly or indirectly affect national security. Such work requires exceptional direction, coordination, and integration of critical and complex intelligence programs, program segments, projects, or related support infrastructure.
Typically, incumbents of executive manager positions are held accountable for the formulation and success of specific programs or projects; monitor progress toward organizational goals and periodically evaluate and make appropriate adjustments to such goals; supervise the work of subordinate employees; and exercise important policy-making, policy-determining, or other executive functions.
The Executive Manager:
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) provides independent oversight of agency functions in support of the National Reconnaissance Office's (NRO) mission. The OIG is charged with ensuring that agency operations are carried out in an effective and efficient manner. The OIG also seeks to detect and deter fraud, waste, abuse and mismanagement through various audits, inspections, evaluations, reviews, and investigations. The OIG advances the mission by providing its findings and recommendations expeditiously to the Director and related stakeholders.
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) is a direct report to the Presidentially Appointed, Senate Confirmed Inspector General (IG) and with the IG, keeps the Director of NRO and Congress fully and currently informed about matters relating to execution of NRO programs and operations. The DIG promotes positive and cooperative working relationships with NRO management, Congressional oversight committees, and across the OIG community. The DIG provides day-to-day management of internal Office of Inspector General activities and acts on the IG's behalf, inside and outside the NRO, when the IG is unavailable, while providing leadership and oversight of performance and production efforts in support of the OIG's work processes and reports. In addition, the DIG has responsibility for career service management to include serving as the Career Service Board Chair for OIG personnel and serves as the hiring authority for recruitment actions. The DIG also works in partnership with the IG to advance and further the OIG's strategic intent and leads the development of strategic plans to accomplish the mission of the OIG. Lastly, the DIG provides critical quality control review of IG products to ensure all OIG products meet quality standards and applicable statutory deadlines and have a clear basis set forth in reports with actionable recommendations.
