    Training Available for Qualified Nuclear Medicine Technologists

    $10,000 Sign-On Bonus & Relocation Bonus

    Virginia Heart is seeking a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist who is either experienced in Cardiac PET/CT or motivated to train into the specialty.

    Already a nuclear medicine technologist but have not worked in Cardiac PET? We encourage you to apply. We provide structured cross-training for qualified nuclear medicine technologists who are ready to develop their skills in cardiac PET/CT.

    This position supports our cardiac PET/CT program in Falls Church, Leesburg, and Alexandria and offers the opportunity to work within an experienced, collaborative cardiovascular imaging team. Technologists work closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical assistants, patient-access staff, and fellow imaging professionals to provide safe, efficient, high-quality patient care.

    Successful candidates should bring:

    • Current NMTCB or ARRT(N) certification
    • Strong foundation in nuclear medicine, radiation safety, and patient care
    • Reliability and accountability
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
    • Willingness to learn and receive feedback
    • Initiative and ability to anticipate workflow needs
    • Ability to work independently after completion of training and competency validation
    • BLS certification
    • Virginia licensure, or ability to obtain the required Virginia license from Virginia Department of Health Professions to practice in outpatient setting

     

     

    Responsibilities:

    •  
    • Perform high-quality cardiac PET/CT imaging while ensuring patient safety and comfort
    • Perform cardiac CT imaging where applicable and once appropriately trained and credentialed
    • Administer and monitor radiopharmaceuticals and contrast agents within applicable scope of practice
    • Apply clinical judgment and critical thinking during imaging procedures and challenging patient-care situations
    • Perform image processing and evaluate studies for technical quality
    • Work collaboratively with physicians, APPs, nurses, fellow technologists, medical assistants, patient-access staff, and leadership
    • Perform required equipment and imaging quality-control procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and applicable standards
    • Maintain radiation-safety practices for patients, staff, and the public
    • Maintain accurate patient records and imaging documentation
    • Participate in ongoing education and professional development
    • Proactively contribute to daily workflow by anticipating departmental needs, prioritizing responsibilities, and supporting teammates throughout the patient-care process
    • Rotate between Cardiac PET locations as needed to maintain competency, support patient care, and balance departmental workload
    • Cross-train across cardiac PET/CT, CT, and selected SPECT workflows based on certification, competency, and departmental needs

    • Site-specific procedures
    • Quality-control expectations
    • Departmental workflow and patient-flow processes

     

    Requirements:

    • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or ARRT(N) (Required)
      BLS certified
    • CT Certification (ARRT CT or NMTCB CT) or willingness to obtain CT Certification within 6 months of hire ($10,000 Sign-On Bonus awarded upon completion of CT training & licensure)
    • Experience in PET imaging (Preferred) – Cross-training available for nuclear medicine techs who want to transition into PET/CT
    • Experience in cardiac PET (Highly Preferred) 
    • Strong knowledge of radiation safety, patient care, and imaging protocols 
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
    • Must be willing and flexible to cover multiple locations as needed to support patient care and departmental operations
    • Must have or obtain Virginia state license from Virginia Department of Health Professions to practice in outpatient setting

     Preferred, but not required

    •Prior PET imaging experience

    •Prior cardiac PET or cardiac nuclear cardiology experience

    •CT certification

    Prior PET or cardiac PET experience is not required. Structured cross-training is available for certified nuclear medicine technologists interested in transitioning into cardiac PET/CT.

    Candidates without CT certification must be willing to complete the required CT training, certification, and Virginia licensure within the established training period
