The patient\u2019s physical and emotional needs, while in the department, are met compassionately and competently. The patient\u2019s privacy is protected. An accurate, complete record is produced for each exam.Job Description:Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to): 1. Performs all aspects of diagnostic nuclear medicine.\u2022 Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals.\u2022 Maintains receipt, dispensing, and disposal records for radiopharmaceuticals used.\u2022 Reviews medical records or takes the patient's history (orally) to determine the indication for ordered exams and the need for the procedure. Refers to supervisor or physician if in doubt.\u2022 Performs patient study according to department protocol, with appropriate modifications based on patient history.\u2022 Evaluates images for completeness and accuracy. Acquires additional images or data as needed. \u2022 Performs radiation surveys and measurements; maintains records necessary for compliance with the state Dept. of Public Health, Radiation Control.\u2022 Performs quality control procedures and maintains records for all major equipment, according to standard procedure and JCAHO requirements. Reports deficiencies to supervisor.\u2022 Wears all required radiation monitoring devices, uses all required protective shielding, and complies with State and department radiation safety procedures.\u2022 Provides on-call coverage on a rotating basis.2. Interacts professionally and courteously with patients, co-workers, and medical staff. Assists in the clinical training of student technologists from the affiliated program and hospital radiology residents.3. Utilizes time productively and appropriately for patient flow, restocking supplies, cleaning equipment, and assisting with clerical duties to increase department efficiency.\u2022 Ensures patient wait time is minimized.\u2022 Spends more than 90% of time working on productive tasks without supervisory prompting.4. Follows Universal Precaution guidelines with each patient.\u2022 Attends yearly \u201cBlood-borne Pathogens/OSHA\u201d inservice.\u2022 Practices aseptic technique.5. Produces an accurate RIS and PACS record of each exam.\u2022 Completes all Meditech entries and edits orders to reflect the correct exam. \u2022 Sends complete record to PACS on correct accession number.6. Pursues continuing education by attending department and hospital-wide programs, regional seminars, and/or college courses.\u2022 Maintains annual CPR certification.\u2022 Meets ARRT/NMTCB standards.\u2022 Meets Massachusetts State licensing standards7. Willingly performs any task for which the employee is competent.Minimum Qualifications: 1. Graduate from a formal nuclear medicine technology program with an AS or BS degree.2. Registered by the NMTCB and/or ARRT3. Licensed in Nuclear Medicine by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.4. Good interpersonal skills. Physical Requirements & Environment: 1. Requires standing, bending, pushing, pulling, walking, and/or lifting to 50% of the time. 2. Exposure to radiation, infectious diseases, chemicals, and hazardous materials 75% of the time. 3. Ability to hear the conversation, comprehend and communicate in spoken and written English more than 75% of the time.4. Ability to wear protective equipment, such as gloves, masks, and gowns.5. Ability to work and move about in confined spaces.6. Requires visual concentration at video display terminals up to 75% of the time. Will perform7. data entry with repetitive hand movement. Pay Range: $47.00 - $69.84The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
