Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Nurse Assistant to join our neurology step-down unit at our Detroit, United States facility. In this role, you will provide essential support to our nursing team while delivering high-quality patient care to individuals recovering from neurological conditions. You will work in a fast-paced healthcare environment where your organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to patient comfort are vital to our team's success.

• Assist registered nurses with direct patient care activities, including bathing, grooming, and toileting
• Monitor and accurately record patient vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates
• Report any changes in patient condition or unusual observations to nursing staff immediately
• Help patients with mobility, transfers, and positioning using proper body mechanics and safety protocols
• Maintain clean, safe, and comfortable patient environments, including changing linens and managing equipment
• Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests, providing compassionate support
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) while promoting independence and dignity
• Document patient care activities and observations in electronic health records (EHR) with accuracy
• Follow all infection control procedures, safety protocols, and HIPAA regulations
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members
• Support nursing staff with non-clinical tasks to optimize patient care delivery

Qualifications

**Required Qualifications:**

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to lift, transfer, and position patients safely (up to 50 pounds regularly)
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Compassion, empathy, and patience when working with patients
• Ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff and healthcare professionals
• Knowledge of basic patient care procedures and safety protocols
• Reliability and professional demeanor

**Preferred Qualifications:**

• Previous experience working in a neurology or step-down unit
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
• Experience in a hospital or acute care setting
• Bilingual capabilities (English and Spanish)
• Phlebotomy certification or experience
• Knowledge of neurological conditions and patient care considerations
