Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Location: Varies by assignment (Multiple healthcare facilities, clinics, nursing homes, etc.)

Position Type: Contract/Per Diem

Job Summary: A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a healthcare professional responsible for providing basic nursing care under the direction of Registered Nurses (RNs), physicians, or other medical professionals. LPNs work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, and private homes. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care, including monitoring vital signs, assisting with daily activities, and ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Administer prescribed medications and injections as per the physician's orders.
  • Assist with wound care and dressing changes, as well as other necessary treatments.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including charting vital signs, patient assessments, and care delivered.
  • Collaborate with RNs, physicians, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Assist with patient education and health promotion activities.
  • Respond to patient concerns, providing timely and appropriate care.
  • Observe and report any changes in patients' condition to the supervising RN or physician.
  • Ensure adherence to all healthcare regulations, safety protocols, and infection control standards.
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid LPN license in the state of employment.
  • CPR/BLS certification.
  • Previous experience as an LPN in a healthcare setting preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, nursing practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to adapt to different healthcare settings and varying patient needs.

Working Conditions:

  • May require standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials, infections, and bodily fluids.
  • Shift work may be required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Travel may be required based on staffing assignments.
