Summary:
Presbyterian Hospital is seeking an experienced and dynamic Nurse Manager, Emergency Department to provide clinical, operational, and leadership oversight for a fast-paced Emergency Department. The Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and professional nursing standards.

Responsibilities:

This role partners closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, ancillary departments, and executive leadership to achieve departmental goals and ensure exceptional patient outcomes.

Clinical Leadership
Provide leadership and oversight for all Emergency Department nursing operations.
Promote evidence-based practice and ensure compliance with nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
Monitor patient care delivery to ensure quality, safety, and patient satisfaction goals are achieved.
Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes and operational performance.
Foster a culture of patient safety and support root cause analysis and corrective action planning when needed.
Operational Management
Manage daily department operations, staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Ensure appropriate patient flow and throughput strategies to optimize Emergency Department efficiency.
Monitor productivity, staffing metrics, and departmental performance indicators.
Collaborate with hospital leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
Ensure effective utilization of equipment, supplies, and departmental resources.
Team Development and Staff Leadership
Recruit, hire, develop, and retain high-performing nursing staff.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
Promote employee engagement, teamwork, and a positive work environment.
Support succession planning and leadership development initiatives.
Ensure ongoing competency validation, education, and compliance training for staff.
Financial Management
Assist in the development and management of departmental budgets.
Monitor labor and operational expenses while maintaining quality patient care and service excellence.
Identify opportunities for cost containment and operational efficiencies.
Collaboration and Communication
Build strong partnerships with physicians, clinical leaders, and interdisciplinary teams.
Participate in hospital committees and organizational initiatives.
Communicate effectively with staff, leadership, patients, and families regarding departmental operations and patient care concerns.
