Summary: The Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our busy ambulatory practice at the Penn Medicine Perelman Center. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will be responsible for direct and indirect patient care of a wide array of gastrointestinal disease and disorders. The provider will help manage a variety of gastrointestinal disorders including esophageal, gastric, small bowel, colonic, hepatic, and pancreaticobiliary diseases. The provider will primary be focused on the outpatient setting but will have inpatient responsibilities, working with our GI consultation team, as well.
This position requires a high level of independence and is well supported with a collaborative and multi-disciplinary practice model. The clinical practice setting is dynamic and fast-paced. Excellent critical thinking, organizational, and communications kills, as well as a strong medical and pharmacology are essential. In this role there will also be a tremendous professional growth potential and the opportunity to participate in Penn Medicine’s tripartite mission of clinical care, research, and education. Members of the team participate in a full range of quality initiatives, are encouraged to become active members of professional societies. All Advanced Practice Providers function under the guidelines as designed by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The CRNP or PA hired by the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology will be held accountable through a formal job description, through the delineation of privileges, and through their agreement with their collaborating/supervising physician who has initiated a Collaborative / Supervising Written Practice Agreement. All clinical work hours and associated requirements will be defined and managed by the Divisional APP Clinical Manager and Divisional Leadership and within the human resource guidelines.
