The Director is responsible for ensuring program quality, accreditation compliance, student success, and community engagement, while aligning the Nursing program with the College's mission, including the integration of Blackfeet culture, values, and community health priorities.The Director leads all aspects of program development, implementation, and continuous improvement, with a particular emphasis on:· Securing and maintaining accreditation and regulatory compliance· Recruiting, retaining, and graduating nursing students· Maintaining strong NCLEX-RN pass rates· Building partnerships with regional healthcare providers· Ensuring systematic program assessment and improvementSpecific Area of DutiesCore Leadership Responsibilities1. Accreditation and Regulatory Compliance· Ensure full compliance with all standards of the Montana Board of Nursing (BON) and national nursing accrediting bodies (e.g., ACEN, CCNE).· Lead all accreditation activities, including self-studies, site visits, annual reports, and continuous improvement plans.· Maintain all required documentation, policies, and evidence aligned with accreditation standards.· Monitor regulatory changes and proactively implement program updates to maintain compliance.2. Enrollment Management and Student Success· Develop and implement a comprehensive recruitment and enrollment strategy to meet or exceed program targets.· Promote student retention, progression, and completion through data-informed interventions.· Oversee admissions processes, advising structures, and student support systems.· Maintain a high NCLEX-RN first-time pass rate, consistent with or exceeding national benchmarks.3. Curriculum, Assessment, and Program Effectiveness· Ensure the ongoing development, review, and alignment of curriculum with industry standards, accreditation requirements, and workforce needs.· Lead mandatory course and program-level assessment processes, including Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs).· Produce annual program assessment reports and contribute to institutional effectiveness reporting.· Implement continuous improvement strategies based on assessment data and stakeholder feedback.4. Faculty Leadership and Development· Recruit, hire, supervise, mentor, and evaluate full-time and adjunct nursing faculty.· Foster a culture of instructional excellence, accountability, and collaboration.· Ensure faculty maintain required credentials and clinical expertise.· Support professional development, including teaching innovation, assessment practices, and cultural integration.5. Community and Clinical Partnerships· Establish and maintain strong relationships with regional hospitals, clinics, and healthcare organizations to support clinical placements and workforce pipelines.· Serve as the primary liaison between BFCC and healthcare partners.· Promote the Nursing program within the Browning community and the surrounding region to support health awareness and workforce development.· Support community-based initiatives that advance public health and wellness.6. Strategic Communication and Institutional Integration· Provide regular reports to the Vice President on program progress, challenges, needs, and accomplishments.· Collaborate with other academic divisions to integrate interdisciplinary learning opportunities.· Contribute to college-wide strategic planning, accreditation efforts, and institutional initiatives.· Represent the Nursing program in shared governance, committees, and external organizations.7. Grants and Resource Development· Identify funding opportunities and develop grant proposals to support program growth and innovation.· Serve as Principal Investigator (PI) on grant-funded initiatives.· Manage grant implementation, reporting, and compliance.· Support resource development for facilities, equipment, simulation, and student support.8. Operations and Program Management· Oversee scheduling, budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation for the Nursing program.· Ensure timely submission of course schedules, reports, and institutional data.· Maintain program facilities, including labs and simulation environments.· Ensure compliance with all college policies and procedures.Qualifications· Master's Degree in Nursing (required); Doctorate (PhD or DNP) preferred· Minimum of 4 years of nursing education experience, including classroom and clinical instruction· Demonstrated experience with nursing accreditation processes· Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Montana (or eligibility)· Experience working with Native American communities and an understanding of tribal college missions preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Required· Expertise in nursing education, curriculum development, and accreditation standards· Strong leadership and management skills, including planning, budgeting, and personnel supervision· Ability to analyze data and implement evidence-based program improvements· Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills· Commitment to student success, community engagement, and cultural integration· Ability to secure and manage external funding and grantsComplexityThis position performs work of a highly complex and specialized nature requiring independent judgment, strategic decision-making, and comprehensive knowledge of higher education administration, nursing education standards, accreditation requirements, Tribal College operations, and healthcare regulatory compliance. The position is responsible for overseeing multiple operational areas simultaneously, including academic instruction, faculty supervision, curriculum development, student retention, clinical partnerships, scheduling, compliance reporting, budgeting, and program assessment.The position must interpret and apply policies from institutional governance, accrediting bodies, state and federal regulations, and the Montana Board of Nursing while balancing the cultural mission and educational priorities of the College. Decisions made within this role directly impact program accreditation, student outcomes, staffing, compliance status, and long-term sustainability of the Nursing Program.This role requires advanced problem-solving, leadership, conflict resolution, and the ability to manage sensitive and high-stakes situations involving students, faculty, clinical agencies, and external regulatory entities with minimal supervision.Personal ContactsHas contact with personnel in all departments, students, Board of Trustees, Blackfeet Tribal departments and programs staff, and other related entities and persons that are necessary to contact to conduct the day-to-day business operations of the Nursing department.Physical DemandsWork is performed in office, classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
