    Description

    Reports To: General Manager

    FLSA Status: Exempt

    Position Summary

    The Assistant General Manager is responsible for providing leadership throughout all divisions of the hotel by coordinating, directing, and planning everyday operations with the guidance of the Hotel General Manager. The AGM will lead recruitment, hiring, and training efforts for the property. This person will also lead the team by communicating hotel standards and inspiring team members to contribute to the best overall guest experience.

    Responsibilities

    Recruiting and Human Resources Management

    • Responsible for full-cycle staffing, including recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding for all hotel departments, including food and beverage staff; providing orientation for all new employees
    • Monitors and effectively forecasts the hotel's employee staffing needs
    • Adheres to all recruitment and hiring guidelines
    • Completes work schedules for front office department staff in a timely and effective manner
    • Reviews and approves employees' timecards
    • Enforces and leads all training and development efforts throughout the hotel
    • Embraces, enforces, and promotes Quality Hospitality's culture to all departments and employees
    • Maintains a positive work environment. Treats employees fairly, consistently, and with respect. Recognizes and rewards excellent performance. Encourages and promotes teamwork. Sets a positive example for all subordinates.
    • Conducts and/or participates in regular employee meetings
    • Effectively delegates projects and duties as needed

    Hotel Operations

    • Knowledge of and ability to complete all hotel reports
    • Basic operational knowledge of all departments
    • Enforces all safety policies in the hotel and promotes safety through regular safety committee meetings
    • Demonstrates strong knowledge of brand standards and programs
    • Makes sound decisions and identifies problems while offering solutions
    • Demonstrates knowledge of the Observe & React program and brand success plans
    • Ensures the follow-through of Observe & React program
    • Maintains daily processes and checklists
    • Understands and completes all month-end requirements
    • Ensures the property is prepared at all times for the quality assurance audit and has full knowledge of all standards for the brand
    • Organizes and completes daily deposits

    Budget/Financial Management

    • Operates efficiently under budgetary guidelines
    • Produces financial reports accurately and on a timely basis as needed
    • Monitors and ensures all cash control procedures are in place

    Customer Service

    • Committed to making every guest happy. Listens and responds promptly to guest complaints and maintains customer service as the driving philosophy of the property
    • Provides information to guests about hotel policies, services, and amenities
    • Responds to requests from guests for assistance and information about the local area (e.g. directions, restaurants, attractions, etc.)

    Community Relations

    • Maintains active involvement in community and industry organizations
    • Participates in community activities, employee activities, and guest events
    • Maintains communication with competitive hotels, Convention and Visitor Bureau, and Chamber of Commerce

    Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable

    • Completes all accounting procedures for the property
    • Manages A/R and A/P appropriately
    • Organizes all payables in a timely and effective manner

    Requirements

    • Prior supervisory experience is required - prior hospitality experience is strongly preferred
    • Prior training, recruiting, and onboarding experience is preferred
    • Strong initiative and work ethic
    • Punctual, reliable, and regular attendance
    • Customer-service oriented
    • Strong attention to detail, multitasking, and organizational skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship building skills
    • Excellent time and project management skills
    • Valid driver's license and Department of Motor Vehicles Report (if applicable)
    • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and meet the required criteria for driving a company vehicle
    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25lbs. Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, bend, twist, and reach frequently.
