The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety of guests and team members and maintaining public order within the hotel, to include public areas and grounds, in the hotel's continuous effort to deliver outstanding guest service. This position will notify law enforcement when necessary to assist in maintaining order. When necessary, the Security Officer will also serve as a Night Auditor responsible for balancing the revenue and expense transactions which occur each day at the hotel.
Responsibilities
Monitoring all areas of hotel to include hallways, public areas, stairwells, lobby, patio areas, and lounge; watching for suspicious people and monitoring noise levels
Continuously patrolling guest room floors, heart of house, parking lot, and lounge
Checking all doors and stairwells to make sure the locks are secure
Maintaining order by directing and escorting unruly patrons from the property for transport
Ensuring fitness center, guest laundry, and pool hours are observed by guests
Enforcing hotel curfew
Reporting any accidents that occur on shift and filling out appropriate Incident Report
Providing information to guests about hotel policies, services, and amenities
Responding to requests from guests for assistance and information about the local area (e.g. directions, attractions, plunging toilets, delivery of linen, etc.)
Listening and responding to guests' request and complaints
Maintaining daily logs
Assisting both arriving and departing guests with their luggage
Delivering special request items such as cribs to guest rooms as needed
Picking up trash from parking lot and garden areas as needed
Assisting with meeting room set up/breakdown and maintenance as needed
Driving guests to/from local destinations in a company vehicle
Driving company vehicle for company related business errands
Perform Night Audit responsibilities as necessary including closing and balancing all room accounts, counting and balancing cash and credit card receipts, balancing direct bill accounts, verifying and balancing vouchers and running a trial balance report
Requirements
Prior experience in security or related field is preferred
Prior front desk and/or customer service experience is preferred
Competent in conflict and crisis management
Excellent decision-making skills
Strong initiative and work ethic
Punctual, reliable, and regular attendance
Strong attention to detail
Customer-service oriented
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal skills
Valid driver's license and Department of Motor Vehicles Report (if applicable)
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and meet the required criteria for driving a company vehicle
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25lbs. Must be able to stand, sit, stoop, bend, twist, and reach frequently.
