Job Overview
The Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST) reports to the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) in support of the Decommissioning and Dismantlement (D&D) of the SM-1A Reactor Facility at Fort Greely, Alaska. This role supports field implementation of the project safety program and performs industrial hygiene and safety monitoring to ensure worker protection and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Perform direct instrumentation monitoring daily for various purposes, to include confined space monitoring, general area atmospheric and dust monitoring, etc. Maintain field documentation as required by applicable procedures to ensure integrity of monitoring data.
+ Collection of various samples, including but not limited to wipe, air, and soil samples for analysis as required to monitor areas for worker safety and environmental compliance. Working with the SSHO, Project Manager (PM), and Project Chemist to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
+ Inspect, maintain, and ensure availability of sample supplies, monitoring instrumentation, etc, to support project needs.
+ Track leading safety indicators, deficiencies, and corrective actions; support performance metrics development.
+ Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log which includes area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, estimated and actual dates of corrections.
+ Maintain collection sample log and any other required sample documentation. Assist with packing and shipment of samples to laboratories for analytical analysis.
+ Ensure field compliance with Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), site-specific safety plans, and work instructions.
+ Support mishap and near-miss reporting and investigations.
+ Review the Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analysis (AHAs) for compliance with EM 385-1-1, and ensure daily project compliance
+ Review and enforce compliance with EM 385-1-1, the Accident Prevention Plan (APP), and applicable OSHA regulations.
+ Provide onsite safety oversight and support customer and contract requirement interpretation.
+ Compile and track safety deficiencies. Ensure corrective actions are taken to mitigate all identified deficiencies.
+ Interact and interpret customer needs, review contract requirements and identify solutions.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Minimum 3 years of safety and industrial hygiene experience on similar projects.
+ OSHA 30-hour Construction or General Industry training (within the last 5 years).
+ Experience with safety monitoring instrumentation and sample collection.
+ Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other platforms (e.g., SharePoint, OneDrive, AutoDesk Build) to help manage an effective safety program
+ Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
+ OHST or other safety-related certification preferred.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $52.88 Per Hour. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
