Job Summary and Qualifications

Occupational Therapists play a vital role in helping patients regain independence, confidence, and quality of life after illness or injury. Working closely with physicians and an interdisciplinary care team, you will evaluate needs, develop individualized care plans, and provide hands-on treatment that supports recovery through every stage of healing. Your role will include:

• Evaluating each patient’s functional abilities and needs, then developing individualized therapy plans in coordination with physicians and the care team. 
• Delivering skilled, evidence-based interventions that promote healing, independence, and quality of life through purposeful, compassionate care. An Occupational Therapist evaluates patient needs, builds custom recovery plans, and provides evidence-based care to restore daily living skills. They track progress, document outcomes, and work with medical teams in acute, rehab, or home health settings. 

  Core Job Responsibilities 

  • Patient Evaluation: Assess functional abilities and define tailored treatment goals. 

  • Direct Care: Deliver skilled therapy interventions to promote physical independence. 

  • Progress Tracking: Monitor recovery and update care plans with timely documentation. 

  • Education: Teach patients and families safe practices for home and daily life. 

  • Teamwork: Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and staff for smooth care transitions. [1, 2, 3] 

  Key Qualifications 

  • Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Occupational Therapy from an approved program. 

  • Experience: A min of 2 years of work experience required, pref in an acute care setting 

  • Licensure: Active state occupational therapy license (e.g. a Florida OT license). 

  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire. 

  • Skills: Strong critical thinking, communication, and basic computer proficiency.
