Description

The Director of Sales leads and directs the MHP (Multivac Health Packaging) sales team to achieve and exceed budget goals. In cooperation with customer service and sales administration teams, develops systems, processes, procedures, and goal-oriented business plans aligned with company objectives to support a customer-focused MHP sales organization. Develops and implements hiring and training strategies to ensure long-term customer satisfaction through a highly focused and effective MHP sales team.

 Provide daily support to Multivac MHP Regional Sales Managers, while ensuring close cooperation with other Sales Teams. Includes application identification, customer development and closing of all business opportunities and assuring the satisfaction of these customers in their region. Expected to work with and provide direction to Marketing on how to shape focused marketing content that supports MHP business. Recommend adjustments to the organization, product changes, and/or services to meet the customer’s expectations.

Candidates must reside within reasonable proximity to Kansas City, MO; Denville, NJ; Charlotte, NC; or Chicago, IL, or be willing to relocate to one of these areas.

This position will travel in excess of 50% with the remainder of the time being spent in the office to ensure proper preparation and follow-up. Domestic and international travel required. Schedule needs to be flexible to accommodate travel, customer needs, trade shows, meetings, and customer schedules.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements strategic marketing plans and sales plans and forecasts to achieve corporate objectives for products and services. Participate in the establishment of corporate goals
  • Develops and manages sales operating budgets
  • Develops and recommends product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share
  • Achieves satisfactory profit/loss ratio and market share in relation to preset standards and industry and economic trends
  • Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts commercial strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions
  • Monitors and reports back to the organization on competitor products, sales and marketing activities
  • Participates in the planning and execution of industry related trade shows
  • Maintain a professional and collaborative relationship with the Multivac Germany team
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners
  • Establishes and maintains a consistent corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events
  • Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly
  • Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales and marketing programs
  • Represents company at trade association meetings to promote products and organization
  • Meets with clients, assisting RSM with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals
  • Coordinates liaison between sales department and other sales and administrative related units at Multivac U.S.
  • Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements
  • Assists other departments within organization to prepare manuals and technical publications
  • Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion
  • Reviews and analyzes sales performances against programs, quotes and plans to determine effectiveness
  • Manages and directs staff including recruitment, selection and development to achieve Company goals and objectives
  • Define, establish and enhance the roles, goals, and responsibilities for all associates within the department. Ensure that all associates are effectively trained and skill sets match performance requirements. General and specific goals are assessed and reviewed on a consistent basis as a team and individually within department.

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Packaging Technology, or a related field required
  • Minimum of five years of industry-related experience with increasing leadership and management responsibility, including experience leading sales teams and driving business growth
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans, forecasts, and budgets to achieve revenue and profitability objectives
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and talent development skills with a proven ability to build and manage high-performing teams
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and negotiation skills with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of an organization and with customers
  • Strong analytical and business acumen with the ability to evaluate market trends, competitive activity, financial performance, and customer needs to drive business decisions
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with customers, strategic partners, and cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office applications, and sales reporting tools
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally in excess of 50%
