Help Students Reach Their Potential

TX-STAR Speech Language Services partners with school districts throughout Texas to provide specialized support for students with developmental, sensory, and functional needs. We are currently seeking Occupational Therapists for school-based opportunities in Houston and surrounding communities.

These positions are ideal for clinicians who are committed to helping students build independence, improve functional performance, and participate more fully in classroom activities and daily school routines.

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a school-based Occupational Therapist, you will evaluate student needs and provide individualized services that support fine motor development, sensory processing, functional skills, and educational access.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver occupational therapy services that address goals established in students’ Individualized Education Programs

  • Assess fine motor coordination, sensory processing, functional performance, and participation in the school environment

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evaluation results and educational priorities

  • Provide therapy services in person, through hybrid arrangements, or virtually when appropriate for the assignment

  • Collaborate with teachers, families, campus staff, and multidisciplinary team members

  • Recommend accommodations, adaptive strategies, equipment, and environmental supports that improve student participation

  • Help students access classroom materials, instructional activities, school routines, and campus environments more independently

  • Monitor student performance and modify interventions according to progress and changing needs

  • Complete evaluations, service records, progress reports, and other required documentation accurately and within established timelines

  • Participate in ARD and IEP meetings and provide clinical findings, progress updates, and recommendations

Qualifications for This Position

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field

  • Current and active Texas Occupational Therapy license

  • Strong understanding of IEP procedures, special education services, and school-based therapy practices

  • Ability to independently manage evaluations, therapy sessions, scheduling, and required documentation

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary team

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and time-management abilities

  • Previous experience working with pediatric or school-based populations is preferred
