Offsite Compliance Pharmacist

Overview:

Valid Ohio driver's license and proof of auto insurance is required by hospital policy. Must pass a motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Children's Hospital and must maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.

Job Description Summary:

Completes audits of regulatory licenses for accuracy and compliance. Travels between assigned license locations to ensure state and federal laws and rules are maintained.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:

• Maintains strong understanding of regulatory and compliance standards associated with State Board of Pharmacy, federal agencies, and accreditation groups.
• Completes audits at outlined frequencies to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, including maintenance of accurate documentation.
• Establishes relationships with license holders to share results of audits and identify and resolve concerns related to the medication use process (ordering, storage, administration, documentation).
• Reviews and summarizes rule and regulation proposals from the State Board of Pharmacy and other state and federal agencies to ensure NCH's ability to provide verbal and written feedback on pending and issued changes.

Education Requirement:

Doctor of Pharmacy, required. Candidates who have been licensed and practicing as a pharmacist since before 2004 may qualify with a bachelor's degree.

Licensure Requirement:

Current and unrestricted licensure or licensure eligibility to practice pharmacy in the state of Ohio, required.

• Strong personnel management skills.
• Strong knowledge of compliance, regulatory, and legal standards related to the practice of pharmacy.
• Strong accuracy and attention to detail in documentation required for state and federal agencies.
• Clear, concise, and complete verbal and written communication skills with ability to engage diverse multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS, State Board of Pharmacy).
• Independently driven and accountable execution of assigned work.

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of hospital pharmacy experience, preferred.
• Experience with compliance, regulatory, and legal practice of Pharmacy, preferred.
