Smashing Dishes, the newest brand from Tony Caters, has terrific openings for On-Call Event Line Cooks!

The Event Line Cook supports the Lead Cook (sometimes the Executive Chef) in preparing/finishing food at catered events. Event Cooks should take pride in their work and their professionalism, focusing on taste, presentation and overall food safety. This role might also be a resource to drive the food and supplies to events in company vehicles.

Pay rate is $25.00/hour.  Must be available to work on weekends.

ABOUT US

Founded in 2009, Tony Caters is a dynamic, well-regarded off-site catering company that produces events in the South Bay and all around the greater Bay Area.  We also have two additional cafes located inside the Tech Interactive Museum in downtown San Jose and at the Winchester Mystery House.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITES

  • Take direction from Lead Event Cook to collaborate on successful execution of the party’s menu
  • Work collaboratively and respectfully with Front of House events staff (and companyleadership) to ensure smooth event experience for guests and staff
  • Support Lead Event Cook in setting up and taking down field kitchen, as assigned
  • Familiarity with the event’s menu (food and drink), and the “Tony Caters Way” for presentation and service
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, production schedules, and quality standards
  • Execute food service during catered events, including buffet, plated, family-style, and station service
  • Maintain food quality, temperature control, and presentation standards throughout service
  • Set up, stock, and break down cooking stations and event kitchens
  • Ensure all food is prepared and served in compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Monitor food inventory and communicate product needs to supervisor
  • Assist with transporting, loading, and unloading food, equipment, and supplies for events
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation before, during, and after service
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and health department requirements
  • Collaborate with chefs, kitchen staff, and event teams to ensure seamless event execution
  •  Assist with kitchen preparation and production on non-event days
  • Support other culinary team members as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Friendly and upbeat attitude is a must!
  • Previous experience as Cook
  • Catering experience a plus
  • Fluency in English/Spanish is a plus
  • Responsible, accountable and task-oriented
  • Must be able to work continuously while standing for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift, pull and push materials/products to complete assigned job tasks
  • Qualified candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of this position satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation
