Position Summary

This is an interest list posting to identify individuals who are interested in and qualified to teach child development classes. Course content will likely include infant/toddler, early/middle childhood and adolescent development, and possibly other topics related to preparing students to work with children and families in a variety of community settings. Some student advising may also be required. Courses are taught face to face during the day or early evening.

Adjunct positions are contracted on a semester-by-semester basis.

This position is an interest list for future adjunct teaching opportunities. Applications will be reviewed by the department periodically and all candidates will be notified by email if they are chosen to interview for a position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Child Development or Human Development required; Master's degree preferred. Related degrees may be considered with strong professional experience in developmentally appropriate programs serving children and youth. A strong commitment to excellence in teaching is advantageous.

• Of the content areas listed above (infant/toddler development, early/middle child development, and adolescent development) list the one(s) you are most qualified to teach and explain why? List other areas related to child development that you are qualified to teach and explain why.
• Please list the child/adolescent development courses, and any other courses related to child development, that you have successfully completed at the university level that give you confidence in your ability to teach any of these classes.
• Briefly discuss how you would implement principles of Erikson's theory in a program serving infants and toddlers, a Piagetian approach in a preschool setting, and Vygotsky's theory with school-age children.
