Department Summary

The Office of the Provost (OtP) is responsible for carrying out the academic mission of the University of Oregon. In doing so, the office works closely with faculty and staff to enhance academic excellence, student success, and the UO''''s overall academic profile. OtP is a dynamic office that leads and manages a variety of initiatives, processes, and services. A major initiative being led by OtP is to boost student success by strengthening infrastructure and support for UO''''s online courses. Online education expands the University of Oregon''''s educational mission beyond campus, enlarging UO''''s reach and amplifying the university''''s reputation as a leader in research and teaching. Further, online education and the goals of this initiative align with the presidential priorities of access, student success, excellence, and experience.

Position Summary

The University of Oregon (UO) seeks a skilled studio producer to devise, create, and edit high-impact media content for online learning. This position will work collaboratively with videographers and instructional designers to provide cohesive, expert support for UO faculty who develop online courses. The candidate will have professional videography experience planning and managing production, editing media, and collaborating with stakeholders who have varying knowledge of and/or familiarity with online media production.

The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver with exceptional time management and organizational skills; including a strong focus on detailed work, able to stay current on production and editing trends and technologies, and an ability to thrive in a collaborative environment. This position communicates effectively, meets deadlines consistently, and represents UO's instructional and marketing content according to brand standards and accessibility requirements established by University Communications with professionalism across all media channels.

Minimum Requirements

Five years of television production videography experience including at least two years of broadcast quality experience.

• • Knowledge of media production techniques, standards, and best practices.
• • Proficiency in video editing software/hardware (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro).
• • Ability to establish professional relationships with diverse, cross-disciplinary faculty.
• • Knowledge and experience with location filming, including working at interior and outdoor locations.
• • Ability to create strong stories for high-quality videos, including a focus on student learning in online environments.
• • Have ability to create strong highlight reels that accurately reflect skills in editing / cinematography.
• • Ability to work with minimal supervision and must work well independently as well as with groups.
• • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• • Ability to create documentation and training materials for faculty.
• • Organization and management skills: ability to prioritize multiple projects.
• • Effective in working under tight deadlines, prioritizing issues, and managing concurrent assignments.
• • Able to work for long periods under artificial light.
• • Outstanding track record in service delivery, customer service, and internal communication.
• • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to communicate with a wide range of users and partners, as well as with students, faculty, and staff from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
• • Be able to work extended hours as needed for projects.
• • Excellent troubleshooting skills and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, media, instructional design, or related field.
• • 3 years production experience including web media production.
• • Experience with online education at the post-secondary level.
• • Experience creating media to support contemporary pedagogical theory.
• • Experience with the Panopto video hosting platform.
• • Experience with the Canvas learning management system.
• • Familiarity with higher education branding and marketing.
• • Experience working in higher education, preferably in a media services role.
• • Previous lead-work experience or supervisory experience.
• • Familiarity with Federal, State, and Local regulatory compliance standards and guidelines.
• • Experience creating and managing scripts, video shoots, interviews, and overall video production, start to finish.
