    Quantitative Methods for Social Science (Open Rank)

    The Department of Political Science at Indiana University, Bloomington invites applications for a full-time tenure track Open Rank position in the field of Quantitative Methods for Social Science, beginning August 1, 2027. Our goal is to hire the strongest candidate available who is doing interesting and important scholarship in this field and who can contribute to the Department's mission and campus's strengths in social sciences.

    Candidates should have an active research agenda with strong promise of publication in leading venues, as well as excellent teaching credentials. We seek scholars whose work has the potential to make influential contributions to the discipline and who can contribute to methods training across the empirical subfields. We are interested in candidates who advance quantitative political science, whether by applying established methods creatively and rigorously to substantive questions or by developing new approaches to data analysis. We welcome applicants working across a variety of approaches, particularly computational and Bayesian, and with a range of data, including text, survey, and panel data. In addition to maintaining an ongoing research program, the successful candidate will be expected to teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and to participate actively in departmental activities.

    Completed Ph.D. degree in Political Science by August 1, 2027.

    Salary and Rank Open Rank, Tenured/Tenure-Track Special Instructions

    All candidates should submit: (1) a cover letter describing research completed and planned; (2) a curriculum vitae; (3) a research statement; (4) two writing samples; (5) a teaching portfolio with a teaching statement and (if available) teaching evaluations; (6) an official transcript; and (7) three letters of recommendation.

    Successful candidates will have completed their Ph.D. degree in Political Science by August 1, 2027.
