Position Overview

The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) will provide perioperative nursing care throughout the surgical experience, including preoperative preparation, intraoperative circulating responsibilities, and postoperative patient care as needed.

The ideal candidate is an experienced OR Nurse / Circulating RN who is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment, and committed to patient safety and excellent clinical care.

Responsibilities

• Circulate surgical procedures in an ambulatory surgery center

• Complete preoperative patient assessments

• Prepare operating rooms, supplies, and surgical equipment

• Maintain sterile technique and infection-control standards

• Monitor and maintain patient safety throughout procedures

• Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers during surgery

• Perform accurate surgical counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps

• Administer medications and monitor patient responses

• Document patient care accurately in the EMR

• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and PACU staff

• Provide patient and family education

• Assist with postoperative care and recovery as needed

• Follow Joint Commission, OSHA, and infection-prevention standards

Required Qualifications

• Active Florida Registered Nurse (RN) license

• Current BLS certification

• Minimum 1 year of RN experience

• Strong communication, organization, and critical-thinking skills

• Ability to work effectively in a surgical team environment

• Commitment to patient safety and quality care

• Computer/EMR proficiency

ACLS certification is required for applicable cardiac-related departments.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3–5 years of Operating Room or Perioperative Nursing experience

• Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) experience

• Circulating Nurse experience

• CNOR certification

• Cath Lab experience

• Electrophysiology (EP) experience

• Vascular procedure experience

• Conscious sedation experience

• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation

• Strong understanding of sterile technique and infection prevention

• EMR experience
