Operating Room Tech II

Job Summary The Scrub Tech (Surgical Technologist) is responsible for assisting surgeons, registered nurses, and other members of the surgical team in providing safe and effective patient care during operative procedures. This role prepares and maintains sterile surgical fields, organizes instruments and supplies, anticipates the needs of the surgeon throughout procedures, and ensures adherence to aseptic and infection control standards. The Scrub Tech supports surgical services across multiple specialties while contributing to efficient operating room operations and positive patient outcomes. Responsibilities include case preparation, instrument counts, equipment setup, maintaining surgical instruments, assisting with patient positioning and draping, and collaborating with the perioperative team to ensure quality care. Key Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms with necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies before procedures. Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout surgery. Pass instruments, sutures, and supplies to surgeons during procedures. Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts according to policy. Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and draping. Ensure surgical equipment is functioning properly before and during procedures. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team. Maintain compliance with infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards. Assist with room turnover and preparation for subsequent cases. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to promote optimal patient outcomes. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or eligible for certification. Knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and operating room procedures. Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
