Job Description

This is a hands-on OT Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Engineer, contract to hire role responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of SCADA and other Operational Technology systems used by the electric utility's Transmission & Distribution (T&D) organization.

The focus is on maintaining, troubleshooting, securing, patching, and upgrading existing OT systems rather than developing new SCADA applications.

Key Requirements

  1. SCADA / OT Experience

    • Experience supporting industrial control systems (ICS) and SCADA environments.
    • Understanding of operational technology in utilities, energy, or other critical infrastructure.
    • Experience maintaining production OT systems.

  2. OT Cybersecurity

    • Hands-on administration of cybersecurity tools and platforms.
    • Security hardening, vulnerability management, and patching.
    • Troubleshooting security-related issues within OT environments.

  3. Infrastructure Support

    • Day-to-day administration and troubleshooting.
    • System maintenance, upgrades, and performance monitoring.
    • Supporting system reliability and availability.

  4. Technical Operations

    • Troubleshooting databases and SCADA display performance.
    • Configuration, testing, and documentation.
    • Working through the full technology lifecycle.

  5. Utility / Critical Infrastructure Knowledge

    • Understanding of Transmission & Distribution operations.
    • Familiarity with the reliability and security requirements of critical infrastructure.

Experience Requirements

Candidates must meet one of these qualification paths:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology field plus 4 years of relevant IT/OT experience.
  • Advanced technology degree plus 4 years of IT/cybersecurity experience.
  • Without a degree, 8 years of IT infrastructure/network support experience, including 4 years involving Active Directory, backup/recovery and/or regulatory compliance.

Experience with mission-critical systems, VMware, scripting, and security certifications is desirable.
