Ophthalmic Technician
Full-Time | In-Person | Lombard & Darien, ILDuPage Ophthalmology is seeking a skilled, patient-focused Ophthalmic Technician to join our growing practice. This role reports directly to the Practice Administrator and works closely with our physicians to deliver exceptional clinical care and an outstanding patient experience.If you are detail-oriented, compassionate, and thrive in a fast-paced medical environment, we’d love to meet you.Clinical & Patient CarePerform comprehensive patient evaluations including:Chief complaint and history of present illnessReview of systemsAccurate documentation of ocular findings in compliance with regulatory standardsConduct pre-exam testing including:Visual acuity (pinhole and glare testing)Confrontational visual fieldsExtraocular muscle assessmentPupillary evaluationTonometryAngle assessment and dilationColor vision and stereopsis testingPerform lensometry and manual refractionsConduct specialized diagnostic testing such as:Visual fieldA-scanOCTOphthalmic photographyAssist physicians with in-office minor surgical procedures and laser treatmentsProvide patient education on medication administration and pre/post-operative instructionsProcess prescription refill requests with complete and accurate documentationEquipment & Clinical SupportMaintain and troubleshoot clinical equipmentClean and prepare surgical instruments for sterile processingOpen and close exam lanes, ensuring equipment is sanitized, powered down, and properly storedFollow all OSHA and office safety protocolsAdministrative & Team SupportUnderstand insurance plans, referral processes, and authorization requirementsMaintain strict patient confidentialitySupport front office functions when needed:Patient check-in and check-outTriage emergency calls and schedule appropriatelyPerform additional duties as assigned to support the teamWho We’re Looking ForPatient-centered with a strong commitment to quality careTeam-oriented and adaptableSelf-aware with a strong work ethicHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredCertification preferred (not required but financially rewarded)Bilingual English/Spanish preferredWillingness to work at both Lombard and Darien locations as neededCompensation & Benefits$22.00 – $30.00 per hour (based on Technical Skills Evaluation and qualifications)Annual performance-based bonusCompetitive healthcare packageGenerous PTO + 6 paid holidaysEmployee discountMore...
