Eye Care Specialists is a busy multi-specialty ophthalmology practice with 7 physicians and 3 locations in Norwood and Norfolk. We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Technician to join our healthcare team. Full-time and part-time positions are available. The Ophthalmic Technician performs a range of duties that prepare the patient to see the doctor. It is direct patient care, with on the job training. Duties/Responsibilities: Obtain medical and eye history from patientDocumenting information using an EMR (electronic medical record)Prepare examination and treatment roomsPerform screening and testing to prepare the patient for the doctor's exam. This includes:Visual acuity Color vision screeningAuto and manual lensometryAuto and manual refractionTonometryAmsler gridPupil evaluationOther testing as neededAdminister eye medicationsMay assist physicians during minor surgical proceduresMaintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipmentRefill and prescribe medication on doctor's behalfComplete prior authorizations for patient medicationRequired Skills/AbilitiesExceptional Customer service- understands and anticipates the patient's needs, takes action to meet the patients needsProactive- keep others informed, ask for help when needed, brings challenges to supervisorEfficient- Utilizes technology, innovation, and process improvements to continuously improve efficiency and effectivenessParticipates in teamwork, establishes strong working relationships with teammates Celebrates change, receptive to new ideas and responds positively to changeEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredWe are willing to trainMedical experience preferred but not requiredPhysical RequirementsSitting, standing, bending, reaching, stooping, walking, liftingAbility to see, hear and speak with sufficient capability to perform assigned tasksDriving independently to other facilitiesWorking ConditionsTravel to other locations is necessary Occupational exposure- Category II exposure to blood-borne pathogens and may encounter chemical hazards.
