ILLINOIS EYE INSTITUTE

LEVEL: Non-Exempt

SALARY/RATE: $23 per hour

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Coordinator of the Eyewear Center

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provides patient support and assistance in the Eyewear Center
  • Uses comprehensive knowledge of lens, options, and frame properties to fit patients with prescribed Rx
  • Explains Insurance plans and coverage to patients
  • Understands all major Vision plans
  • Dispenses eyewear to patients
  • Repairs, adjusts, and augments patient optical frames and lenses
  • Provides direction and instruction for ICO optometry students
  • Manages Eyewear Center reception desk when needed
  • Assists with primary immediate operations in Eyewear Center
  • Provides support and problem-solving for all internal customers and patients
  • Assures eyewear order quality control
  • Provides the immediate supervisor with relevant and timely feedback regarding data and material issues
  • Submits to regular review of skill advancement, including Opticianry, posting, and Vision insurance plans
  • Must acquire mastery of IEI practice management software and insurance plan coverage
  • Must meet EWC sales goals

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

  • Other job-related duties as assigned by the Clinical Manager for the EWC or SR. Director of IEI Administration

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Highly skilled, experienced professional optician.
  • Minimum 2 Years of healthcare/Optician experience
  • Professional and friendly communication with all staff and vendors
  • Requires a strong commitment to the accuracy of patient data
  • Requires the ability to handle a variety of tasks with speed, attention to detail, and accuracy
  • Ability to thrive in a team-driven environment
  • High school diploma
  • Practice management data entry software experience
  • Demonstrated data/ software and technology skills
  • Proficient user of Windows programs
  • Highly efficient multi-tasker
  • Skilled communicator
  • Maturity in judgment and demeanor
  • Professional ethics
  • Ability to meet deadlines regardless of circumstances or pressures
  • Attendance must be in accordance with College Policy
