Gateway Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons of St. Louis is an established, patient-focused oral surgery practice looking for an experienced, dependable Oral Surgery Assistant to join our team. We take pride in providing exceptional surgical care while making sure our patients feel comfortable, informed, and well cared for throughout their experience. What You'll Do
As an Oral Surgery Assistant, you'll play an important role in both patient care and the daily operation of the practice. Responsibilities include:
- Assist the surgeon with oral surgery procedures, including extractions, dental implants, and other surgical treatments.
- Assist with IV sedation procedures and patient monitoring, as permitted by training and qualifications.
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures.
- Maintain proper sterilization procedures and infection control standards.
- Assist with patient intake, preparation, recovery, and post-operative instructions.
- Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
- Help manage surgical supplies, inventory, and equipment.
- Work closely with the surgeon and other team members to keep the day running smoothly.
- Provide a welcoming, compassionate experience for every patient.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who brings both strong clinical skills and a team-first attitude.
Preferred qualifications:
Previous dental assisting experience; oral surgery experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience assisting with IV sedation and surgical procedures is a significant plus.
- Anesthesia assisting certification is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with surgical instruments, sterilization, and infection control procedures.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to stay calm, focused, and organized throughout the workday.
