A well-established generator sales, installation, and service company is looking for a Sales Representative to take ownership of residential standby generator projects from the first customer conversation through a completed, commissioned installation.
Leads arrive warm through the company’s network, referrals, and marketing. From there, the Project Manager consults with the homeowner or facility contact on what they are trying to protect and what the site will support, prepares and presents the quote, lines up the subcontractors, and manages the installation schedule through startup. The customer, the electrician, and the inspector all end up leaning on this person.
Key Responsibilities:
The core of the job is turning an interested homeowner into a signed, correctly scoped installation.
Qualify leads before you spend windshield time on them — location, budget, and scope up front
Run site visits: assess equipment placement, load requirements, fuel supply, and any local or state code restrictions in play
Design the install or replacement — size the generator and transfer switch against the load calculation, fuel type, and applicable codes
Prepare and present the proposal, quote, and contract based on what you saw at the site
Hand off sold work to the Project Manager with complete scope, design, and site documentation — no surprises for the install crew
Convert installations into ongoing service agreements, which is where the repeat revenue lives
Develop new opportunities in your territory: new installs, generator replacements, and standalone transfer switch replacements
Requirements
A track record in outside sales — consultative, in-home or on-site, with numbers you can point to
Enough comfort with residential electrical systems to run a load calculation and size equipment against it — or the aptitude and genuine interest to pick that up quickly
The judgment to manage a pipeline that shifts week to week, especially after a weather event
A valid driver’s license and a willingness to be on the road across the territory
What helps but is not required
Background in generator, HVAC, electrical, solar, or battery storage salesFamiliarity with NEC requirements and CT / NY permitting and inspection processes
Existing relationships with electricians, builders, or property managers in the territoryExperience selling service agreements alongside equipment
