Outside Sales Representative

About the Role

A well-established lumber and building materials dealer in Laurel, MT is hiring an Outside Sales Representative to grow its contractor and builder business. You'll own a book of pro accounts, bring in new ones, and be the go-to resource for builders, remodelers, and framers across the local market. This is a field role for someone who knows lumber, knows contractors, and likes to be out on job sites more than behind a desk.

Key Responsibilities

• Grow sales with residential and commercial contractors, builders, remodelers, and framers
• Prospect and win new business through job-site visits, cold calls, referrals, and local builder networks
• Manage and deepen existing account relationships; be the primary point of contact from quote to delivery
• Hit monthly and annual sales, margin, and new-account targets
• Coordinate with inside sales, estimating, dispatch, and yard teams to keep orders accurate and on time
• Support takeoffs and quotes for framing packages, trusses, windows, doors, millwork, and specialty products
• Track pipeline, activity, and customer notes in the CRM
• Stay current on product, pricing, and local market and building trends

Required Qualifications and Credentials

• 2+ years of outside sales experience, preferably in building materials, lumber, or a pro dealer environment
• Strong knowledge of lumber, framing, and building products
• Proven ability to build and keep contractor and builder relationships
• Comfortable using a CRM and standard sales tools
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record; regular local travel to customer sites
• Self-starter with strong communication, negotiation, and follow-through

Preferred

• Familiarity with MiTek or Alpine Truss and Component software and 20-20 or KCD design software experience is a plus.
• Estimating and takeoff experience (blueprint reading)
• An established network of contractor relationships in the local market
