Position Summary

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and patrol all buildings to help ensure the safety and security of guests, staff, and property.
• Respond to and manage emergency situations, including fire alarms, medical emergencies, engineering issues, and security breaches.
• Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities and equipment and identify maintenance or repair needs.
• Monitor security cameras, room temperatures, boiler temperatures, and cooler temperatures.
• Complete the nightly engineering building walk.
• Perform pre-assigned engineering tasks provided by the Chief Engineer or Director of Facilities.
• Maintain accurate records of security incidents, engineering activities, and equipment repairs.
• Collaborate with hotel management and staff to maintain a safe and comfortable environment for guests.
• Assist with guest inquiries and amenity requests when the front desk is unable to assist.
• Assist with valet support when requested and when the front desk is unable to assist; security is not solely responsible for valet duties.
• Collect nightly door hangers.
• Door Responsibilities – Hotel Bar

• Check IDs: Card any guest who appears under age 30. Verify that identification is valid and ensure all guests entering KB are at least 21 years old.
• Monitor intoxication: Do not allow guests who appear over-served or visibly intoxicated to enter KB.
• Enforce the no-vaping policy: If a guest is vaping on the property, engage them politely and offer a friendly warning. Ask repeat offenders to leave the property.
• Prevent outside food and beverages: Do not allow guests to bring outside food or beverages onto the property. Leftovers from a dinner out are permitted.
• Maintain clear walkways: Keep walkways unobstructed. Clean and dry spills promptly, and redirect guests around the area when necessary.
• Monitor capacity: Stay aware of occupancy levels and prevent overcrowding.

Reporting & Shift Details

• Reports directly to the Director of Facilities.
• Schedule: Tuesday to Saturday, 9:30 PM–6:00 AM.
• One 30-minute lunch and two 15-minute breaks.
• At the start of each shift, connect with the second-shift engineering team member for a detailed pass-along.
• Report to the HC engineering office at the start of each shift to collect keys, radio, and other required items; return them to the engineering office before leaving.
• Use the nightly suggested schedule as a shift template and manage time appropriately to accommodate additional requests and personal breaks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in engineering or a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in security, maintenance, or engineering roles, preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting.
• Knowledge of safety and security protocols and basic maintenance and repair techniques.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Availability to work overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders and operating machinery.

Safety & Attendance Expectations

• Employees are never to physically engage with another individual while acting as security.
• Contact the Covington Police Department if a situation escalates.
• A minimum of four hours' notice is required if an employee is unable to report for a shift; less than four hours' notice is considered an improper call-off.
• Any shift that cannot be completed by the employee will be covered by a member of the Engineering Team.
