Title: Pricing & Rating Analyst / Developer
Locations: San Antonio, TX
Pay Rate: $45.00-50/hr on W2/C2C (All Inclusive) Duration: 06+ Months with Possible Extension.
We are seeking a highly experienced P&C Insurance Pricing & Rating Analyst/Developer with 6 8+ years of experience in Property & Casualty insurance, preferably within the Auto Insurance domain. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in insurance rating methodologies, pricing, Policy Administration Systems, and rating platforms such as Earnix, Ratabase, and Radar. The role requires a combination of business analysis, functional analysis, rating configuration, requirements management, and stakeholder coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Apply strong P&C insurance domain knowledge, preferably in Auto Insurance, to understand business requirements, products, rating methodologies, and policy lifecycle processes.
Perform functional analysis of legacy systems to identify business rules, rating logic, calculations, data dependencies, and application components.
Translate actuarial and business requirements into detailed functional specifications, JIRA user stories, and clear acceptance criteria.
Configure and develop insurance rates, rating factors, inputs, and rules using Earnix, Ratabase, and Radar frameworks.
Understand and analyze the integration between rating platforms and Policy Administration Systems (Client) and the end-to-end premium flow across policy lifecycle events.
Apply pricing components and rating methodologies to support pricing of existing and new insurance products.
Partner closely with Pricing, Underwriting, Actuarial, Predictive Modeling, and IT teams to identify requirements, model integrations, data dependencies, and downstream impacts.
Develop efficient pseudocode and transformation logic to clearly communicate complex business rules and calculations to development teams.
Apply mathematical and analytical concepts to correlate business requirements with application components and rating logic.
Document code conversion, data conversion, rating logic, and implementation processes to maintain end-to-end traceability from requirements through development.
Manage product and technical backlogs using JIRA, JWM, Rally, or similar Agile tools.
Facilitate and participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
Gather requirements from business and IT stakeholders and ensure alignment between onshore, offshore, vendor, and customer teams.
Provide clear communication and coordination across multiple teams and stakeholders.
Prepare and publish weekly status reports, highlighting progress, risks, issues, impediments, and mitigation plans.
Support customer and vendor coordination while ensuring timely delivery of pricing and rating initiatives.
Required Skills
6 8+ years of experience in P&C Insurance, preferably Auto Insurance.
Strong understanding of P&C insurance products, rating principles, pricing methodologies, and Policy Administration Systems.
Hands-on experience with Earnix, Ratabase, and/or Radar rating frameworks.
Strong understanding of insurance rating engines and end-to-end premium calculation flows.
Experience translating actuarial specifications into functional specifications.
Strong Business Analysis and requirements-gathering skills.
Experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria in JIRA.
Ability to analyze legacy systems and document business rules, rating logic, calculations, and transformation logic.
Understanding of pricing components, rating factors, and insurance product configuration.
Experience identifying data dependencies, model integration requirements, and downstream impacts.
Experience working with Pricing, Underwriting, Actuarial, and Predictive Modeling teams.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Proficiency with JIRA, Rally, JWM, or similar backlog/work management tools.
