We are seeking a Packaging Line Maintenance Technician for a client based in Detroit, MI. This individual will play a critical role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automated packaging equipment to support safe, consistent, and efficient production.
The ideal candidate will have a strong combination of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation troubleshooting experience and be comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated packaging and production equipment to ensure consistent and reliable operation.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation-related issues and implement timely solutions to minimize production downtime.
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on packaging equipment, conveyors, robotics, and other automated machinery.
Monitor packaging line performance and identify potential equipment issues before they impact production.
Support packaging leadership by assisting with the training and guidance of production team members on equipment operation, packaging procedures, and quality standards.
Help ensure packaged products consistently meet established quality requirements.
Maintain a clear understanding of workflow throughout the packaging and production operation.
Adapt troubleshooting techniques and equipment operation based on changing production conditions, materials, additives, and operating requirements.
Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
Work with HMI and PLC-controlled equipment to identify and troubleshoot operational issues.
Troubleshoot and maintain pneumatic systems and pneumatically actuated packaging equipment.
Support the maintenance and repair of robotic and other complex automated systems.
Assist with maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Follow all established safety procedures and applicable electrical codes and practices.
Work efficiently to support production goals and daily operating requirements.
Participate in cleaning, sanitizing, organization, and other facility maintenance activities as required.
Assist other departments and support additional operational needs as assigned.
Maintain a professional and respectful work environment and communicate effectively with team members and leadership.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of two years of experience maintaining and troubleshooting packaging lines or automated production equipment.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
Experience working with HMI and PLC-controlled equipment.
Experience troubleshooting pneumatic systems and packaging machinery.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
Working knowledge of electrical codes, procedures, and safe work practices.
Experience troubleshooting and repairing automated equipment such as:
Packaging machinery
Conveyors
Robotic systems
Pneumatic equipment
Other complex automated production equipment
Ability to work across multiple areas of automation, including electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose equipment issues quickly.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and identify productive work when immediate direction is not provided.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to consistently meet productivity and performance expectations.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and other shifts as operational needs require.
Physical Requirements
Ability to wear required PPE, including steel-toed footwear, hard hat, safety glasses, and other protective equipment as required.
Ability to work safely in varying temperatures within production, warehouse, and outdoor environments throughout the year.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50+ lbs.
Ability to climb, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, reach, and perform other physical activities necessary to safely maintain and repair equipment.
Ability to meet applicable pre-employment requirements, which may include a physical examination and drug screening.
