Job SummaryWe are seeking a motivated and eager Painter Apprentice to join our dynamic team. This paid apprenticeship offers hands-on experience in automotive painting projects, providing opportunities to develop essential skills in construction painting, restoration, and surface preparation. ExperienceNo prior professional experience required; however, this candidate will have some experience prepping and painting vehicles. They will also be familiar with equipment used and the safety precautious when prepping and using the paint. *Wearing a respirator in this work environment is required*
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates and uses all body shop equipment properly and safely.
- Removes rust, grease and dirt from work surface.
- Masks and protects parts that are not to be painted or coated.
- Mixes paint / primer / sealer according to specifications.
- Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color.
- Paints surface and or edges of vehicle parts using sprayer.
- Inspects painted units for quality of workmanship, noting any runs, sags, and unpainted areas.
- Color sands and buffs away any imperfection in topcoat.
- Maintains tools and keeps equipment and work stall clean and in a proper state of repair.
- Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
- Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED
- Some auto body experience and/or tech school desired
- Must have a passion and aptitude for collision repair technologies
- Must have an impressive work ethic
- Neat, clean, and professional appearance
- Must have an unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
- Must be able to operate a standard-transmission vehicle
