Location & Facility Transition

This position is currently based at our Linden, NJ facility and will be relocating to our new East Windsor, NJ facility. Candidates must be able to work in Linden during the transition period and continue employment in East Windsor once relocation is complete.

Position Overview

Hansome Energy Systems is seeking a detail-oriented Paint & Prep Technician to support the preparation and finishing of high-performance industrial and defense-related components. This role involves surface preparation, masking, priming, painting, and final finishing work. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical skills, excellent craftsmanship, and an uncompromising focus on quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare parts and components for painting, including cleaning, sanding, degreasing, and surface conditioning.
  • Mask and unmask components according to drawings, specifications, and finish requirements.
  • Mix, apply, and maintain coatings such as primers, enamels, epoxies, and mil-spec coatings using spray equipment or manual application methods.
  • Inspect coated surfaces for defects, proper coverage, finish consistency, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Maintain paint equipment, spray guns, prep tools, and work areas in clean, safe condition.
  • Read and interpret work instructions, finish specifications, and job travelers.
  • Track materials used and document production steps as required.
  • Work closely with assembly, quality, and production teams to ensure components meet all finish and durability requirements.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and PPE procedures related to paint and chemical handling.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of experience in painting, coating, or surface preparation in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, industrial, or similar environments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on craftsmanship skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and interpret finish standards or technical requirements.
  • Experience with basic tools related to sanding, grinding, masking, and surface prep.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a production environment.
  • Willingness and ability to work in Linden, NJ and transition to East Windsor, NJ upon relocation.
  • US Citizenship required

Preferred

  • Experience applying industrial coatings, epoxies, or mil-spec finishes.
  • Familiarity with HVLP spray systems, pressure pots, or similar paint equipment.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or high-reliability manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety practices related to paint operations.

  • Full-time, on-site manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to solvents, coatings, paint fumes (with proper ventilation and PPE), and moderate noise.
