Job Description

The Paralegal will support complex affordable housing and commercial real estate transactions from due diligence through closing and post-closing activities. This role will partner closely with attorneys, executives, outside counsel, and third-party stakeholders while helping lead a team of paralegals and ensuring transactions remain on track.

Description

  • Prepare, review, and organize legal documents and contracts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct legal research and provide summaries to support the Legal department's activities.
  • Assist in drafting and filing legal correspondence and documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to gather necessary information for legal matters.
  • Maintain and update legal databases and records for easy accessibility.
  • Monitor deadlines and ensure timely submission of legal filings and reports.
  • Support compliance initiatives and assist with risk management procedures.
  • Provide administrative support to attorneys as needed.

Profile

A successful Paralegal should have:

  • 5+ years of paralegal experience in a law firm and/or corporate legal environment.
  • Experience supporting complex transactions from diligence through closing and post-closing.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple active matters simultaneously.
  • Commercial real estate transaction experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Experience coordinating with attorneys, title companies, lenders, and outside counsel.
  • Strong judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal research/document management tools.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or supervising paralegals preferred.
  • Affordable housing transaction experience, including LIHTC, HUD financing, and tax-exempt bond transactions, strongly preferred.
