    Job Title: Paralegal (Tax Appeal)

    Location: Fairfield, NJ 07004

    Salary/Payrate: $65K-$85K annually bonus and AWESOME benefits!!!

    Work Environment: Onsite

    Term: Contract to Hire

    Referral Fee:AMS will pay $500 should the person you refer gets hired

     

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Our client is looking to hire a Paralegal on a contract to hire basis at their offices in Fairfield, NJ 07004. The position will convert to full time employment after six months and will pay an annual salary of $65K to $85K plus a performance-based bonus and is eligible for overtime.

     


    Job Overview:

    The Paralegal supports attorneys by managing a variety of tasks related to case preparation, legal research, and document management, and works under the supervision of the Managing Paralegal. The role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of legal processes to ensure the efficient handling of cases.

     


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct legal research and gather relevant statutes and other legal information.
    • Draft legal documents such as pleadings, discovery, and correspondence.
    • Prepare case summaries, appeals, reports, and analyses for attorney review and clients.
    • Assist in the preparation of trial documents, exhibits, and witness lists.
    • Organize and maintain legal files, ensuring compliance with firm protocols and legal standards.
    • File legal documents with courts and maintain records of court filings.
    • Coordinate communication between attorneys, clients, and external parties as well as staff and Managing Paralegal.
    • Manage case calendars, including court dates, deadlines, and attorney meetings.
    • Support attorneys for hearings, meetings and trial preparation.

     


    Competencies:

    • Able to draft appeals, pleadings, and correspondence.
    • Prepares case files and trial materials with accuracy.
    • Manages deadlines and maintains organized case calendars.
    • Files documents with courts and maintains filing systems.
    • Coordinates effectively with attorneys, clients, and third parties.
    • Supports attorneys in hearings, discovery, and trial preparation.
    • Conducts legal research and compiles case law and statutes.

     


    Requirements:

    • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program or equivalent experience.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • 2+ years of experience as a paralegal in a law firm.
    • Proficient in legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.
