Overview:
Position Summary
The Adult/Pediatric Flight Paramedic provides advanced critical care to adult and pediatric patients during air and ground medical transport. Working as part of a Registered Nurse (RN)/Paramedic team, this role is responsible for patient assessment, triage, treatment, monitoring, and ongoing evaluation throughout transport.
The Flight Paramedic practices with a high level of autonomy, using advanced clinical skills and established medical protocols under the direction of the program’s medical director.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Provide critical care for adult and pediatric patients during pre-hospital and interfacility transports
- Assess, treat, monitor, and evaluate patients throughout transport missions
- Deliver care during helicopter, fixed-wing aircraft, and ground ambulance transports
- Utilize advanced clinical skills and follow approved medical protocols
- Accurately document patient care and clinical interventions in the medical record
- Collaborate effectively with flight team members and healthcare partners
- Serve as a clinical resource by sharing knowledge and skills with team members
- Support community outreach and educational initiatives when needed
- Maintain a strong commitment to patient safety and quality care throughout all transport operations

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Current National Registry EMT-Paramedic certification required
- Current State of Florida Paramedic license required
- Minimum of 4 years of pre-hospital paramedic experience required
- Valid Florida driver’s license required
Required Certifications
The following certifications are required upon hire:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with the following experience or certifications are strongly preferred:
- Experience in pre-hospital, flight, or critical care transport environments
- CCEMT-P certification
- UFCCP certification
- FP-C certification
- AMCCC certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Instructor certifications in ACLS, PALS, and/or PHTLS
The following certifications must be obtained within 1 year of employment if not already held:
- CCEMT-P, UFCCP or FP-C
- AMCCC
- NRP
- Florida-approved EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operator Course) certification
Vehicle Operation Requirements
- This position requires operating vehicles for work-related purposes as a non-frequent driver
- Completion of a Florida-approved EVOC driving course is preferred upon hire and required within 1 year of employment
