As a Paramedic within the Rapid Access Unit and Sobering Center, you will provide medical screening, monitoring, and support services to individuals receiving care. You will assess incoming consumers, collect vital medical information, monitor client progress, respond to medical concerns and emergencies, provide patient education, and collaborate closely with treatment team members to ensure safe, effective, and person-centered services. This role combines medical expertise with compassionate care to support positive outcomes for those we serve.

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide medical screening and assessment services to determine appropriateness for program admission

· Collect vital signs and medical information necessary to determine the appropriate level of care for incoming consumers

· Assign beds or recliners based on clinical presentation and established protocols

· Monitor consumer progress and condition throughout their stay according to program protocols

· Collaborate with Behavioral Health Technicians, Medic I staff, and treatment team members to ensure safe and effective care

· Respond to medical concerns and immediately alert appropriate personnel during emergency situations

· Monitor client safety and wellbeing throughout each shift

· Educate clients regarding medications, treatment plans, program services, client rights, and program expectations

· Communicate important clinical information to treatment team members to support coordinated care

· Participate in staffing meetings and contribute recommendations for treatment interventions

· Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant documentation of services, observations, and client activities

· Support organizational goals and perform additional duties as assigned

Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent required

· Current Missouri Paramedic licensure required

· Minimum one (1) year of experience working as a Paramedic

· Thorough knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures related to emergency medical services and behavioral health treatment environments

· Knowledge of physical and behavioral health conditions and interventions

· Ability to accurately enter, document, maintain, and retrieve information in written and electronic formats

· Ability to evaluate services and provide meaningful clinical input regarding client care

· Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports

Additional Qualifications:

· Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age to operate a company-owned vehicle

· Must be at least twenty-three (23) years of age to operate a company-owned fifteen (15) passenger van

· Valid driver's license in state of residence with an acceptable driving record required

· Current automobile insurance required

· Successful completion of criminal background, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint screenings

· Must attain First Aid certification within three (3) months of employment and maintain certification upon renewal

· Must attain CPR certification within three (3) months of employment and maintain certification upon renewal

· Must attain Behavioral Management training within thirty (30) days of employment or first available class after hire

· Must attain ongoing training requirements in accordance with state regulations and agency standards

· Extensive knowledge of applicable program policies, procedures, and regulations

· Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in crisis and emergency situations

· Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team

Physical Requirements

· Perform sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects

· Perform repetitive hand, finger, and arm movements for typing, writing, and documentation throughout the workday

· Sit for extended periods while completing documentation and monitoring responsibilities

· Occasionally stand or walk for brief periods while performing essential job functions

· Maintain the physical ability necessary to respond appropriately to medical and behavioral health emergencies in a treatment environment
