SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This application is intended for people interested in applying for various auxiliary positions within the Department of Parks & Recreation as they become available. The Department of Parks & Recreation offers multiple job opportunities that may be vacant at any given time. As positions become available, the Department will review applications submitted under "Parks & Recreation Auxiliary" and contact applicants with details regarding what specific positions are available along with the specific summary of essential duties and qualifications. Please note: Applicants seeking immediate employment should be made aware that hiring for the below-listed positions will only be considered when a position becomes vacant. Auxiliary positions include:

  • Building Supervisor- Responsible for supervising groups during events, janitorial maintenance of facility, staffing facilities for after-hours meetings and handling and answering questions from the Rental Permit Holders.
  • Recreation Leader- Responsible for supervising general recreation programs and special events associated with the community centers and other department facilities.
  • Shift Supervisor- Responsible for the onsite supervision of day-to-day operations of the community centers, under the supervision of the Recreation Facility Manager.
  • Center Attendant- Responsible for conducting the day-to-day operations of the Community Centers under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor and the Recreation Facility Manager. Van Driver- Responsible for transporting senior citizens and handicapped individuals to pre-scheduled destinations in the City Limits of Laurel area; assist with the on and off loading of passengers; completes daily automotive check list; maintains operation records; and provides input for appointment scheduling. The Department of Parks & Recreation annually offers seasonal auxiliary positions during the summer months for the following positions. Hiring for seasonal positions begin in February-March.
