Job Description

Love Dogs? Make Your Workday Something to Look Forward To.

Imagine spending your weekdays outdoors, building relationships with dogs who are excited to see you, and knowing your work makes a real difference.

At Seattle Bark District, we're a professional dog walking company dedicated to helping West Seattle pet parents feel confident that their dogs are happy, safe, and well cared for.

We're looking for dependable, experienced dog lovers who enjoy working independently, take pride in providing excellent care, and want to be part of a supportive, reliable team.

The Opportunity

This isn't just about walking dogs. It's about becoming a trusted part of their daily routine.

You'll build lasting relationships with the dogs on your route, get to know their individual personalities, and give their owners peace of mind through consistent, thoughtful care.

You'll enjoy an active workday, independence, and a predictable weekday schedule without evenings or weekends as part of your regular route.

What You'll Do

  • Build relationships with your dogs. Provide safe, enjoyable private neighborhood walks tailored to each dog's personality, energy level, and needs.
  • Keep every dog safe. Use confident leash handling, recognize canine body language, and respond appropriately to changing situations.
  • Become someone clients count on. Arrive on time, follow care instructions carefully, and deliver consistent, dependable service.
  • Keep pet parents connected. Share thoughtful updates through our dog walking software so clients know their pets are in good hands.
  • Manage your daily route. Travel between nearby West Seattle homes, stay organized, and communicate proactively with the team.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first few months, you'll be confidently managing your walking route, developing trusting relationships with your regular dogs, and providing the dependable care our clients expect.

Over time, you'll become a familiar, trusted presence for both pets and their people--someone who notices the little things, handles challenges calmly, and helps maintain Seattle Bark District's reputation for exceptional care.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys dogs but also understands that professional pet care requires responsibility, good judgment, and consistency.

You'll be a great fit if you:

  • Have previous dog walking or animal handling experience.
  • Are dependable, punctual, and comfortable working independently.
  • Understand basic dog behavior and safe leash handling.
  • Enjoy being physically active and working outdoors in Seattle's changing weather.
  • Communicate clearly and pay attention to details.
  • Can commit to consistent weekday availability between 10 AM and 3 PM.

Additional requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Have reliable transportation and a smartphone with a data plan.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Be willing to complete a background check.
  • Be comfortable walking dogs of different sizes and occasionally handling two dogs from the same household.
  • Be seeking supplemental part-time income rather than full-time hours.

Experience with dogs who have medical or behavioral needs, veterinary care, kennel work, or professional pet sitting is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting pay of $21.30 per hour
  • Paid onboarding and training
  • Consistent weekday scheduling with some flexibility in daily hours
  • Typically 10-20 hours per week
  • Independent, active work outdoors
  • Casual, weather-appropriate dress
  • Supportive team that values communication, reliability, and quality care

Work Location & Schedule

Location: West Seattle, WA -- traveling between clients' homes for private, leashed neighborhood walks.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Daily hours vary based on assigned walks, typically 2-5 hours per day.
