Part-Time Line Cook

About the role

Schedule: Tuesday and Wednesday // 9:30am - 2:30pm

(Interviews will take place in Long Island City but worksite is in Stamford CT)

We provide daily lunch for some of the hottest startups. We need a Line Cook who can heat up the kitchen, works well in a fast-paced environment, and is responsive to the needs of our clients.

In this role, you will working onsite at one of our clients locations. If you have a desire to learn, are a dedicated and responsible team player, and are looking to cultivate your skills in the kitchen, we want to meet you!

What you'll be doing

• Cleaning and preparing meats and vegetables
• Putting the finishing touches on food
• Maintaining clear communication with the executive chef and city manager at all times
• Keeping station and work areas clean at all times
• Taking ownership of whatever task is at hand
• Assist with daily deep-clean items, comply with and enforce sanitary regulations and safety standards
• Assist in the unpacking, and clean-up

Our ideal candidate

• Has a strong understanding of food safety standards, proper food handling, and kitchen best practices.
• Demonstrates knowledge of proper food reheating procedures and temperature requirements to ensure food quality and safety.
• Is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to maintain an efficient, clean, and well-managed kitchen.
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can confidently multitask, balancing food receiving, replating, preparation, and daily kitchen operations.
• Takes initiative, thinks strategically, and demonstrates ownership and accountability over kitchen operations.
• Has prior culinary experience (required), with restaurant experience strongly preferred.
• Has hands-on experience operating a combi oven (required).
• Possesses strong knife skills and the ability to execute food preparation tasks safely, efficiently, and consistently.
• Ability to understand and communicate in basic English

Eligibility : This position must maintain a State Food Handlers Card

Work environment : This position is based in a commercial commissary kitchen.

Physical requirements : This position requires standing for up to 6 hours at a time and moving equipment up to 50 lbs.
