General Function

The Program Coordinator of Veterans Services will be responsible for the efficient delivery of veterans' benefits by providing critical and direct program oversight. The Program Coordinator for Veterans Affairs will manage: all veteran's affairs applications and packets; separation documents; course load alignment to eligible benefits; and benefits certification. The Program Coordinator provides autonomous oversight for the outreach, implementation, and management functions for Veterans Affairs. This position serves as an institutional and regulatory liaison with federal, state, or local stakeholders, a program policy expert, and a senior Financial aid and Veteran's Affairs project manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Independently manages the implementation, critical and direct oversight, and regulatory processes for Veterans Affairs benefits.

  2. Serves as a certifying official for veterans benefits.

  3. Coordinates the assessment activities for Veterans Affairs, including setting goals and priorities, clarifying policy, and developing internal control procedures.

  4. Serves as the primary Veterans Affairs policy and implementation liaison between the Financial Aid/Veteran Affairs Office and applicable federal, state and local entities.

  5. Serves as an institutional program subject-matter expert for Veterans Affairs, including all applicable federal, state, and institutional regulations and administrative responsibilities.

  6. Maintains library of educational and career information; reviews and updates information as necessary.

  7. Designs, schedules, and facilitates training sessions for faculty.

  8. Assists in coordinating visits of prospective students to College; answers questions and provides information regarding admission requirements to prospective students.

  9. Maintains records and files; updates information and pulls inactive files.

  10. Serves as an institutional program subject-matter expert for Veterans Affairs, including all applicable federal, state, and institutional regulations and administrative responsibilities.

  11. Establish strategies for the effective delivery of VA program benefits to students to support institutional retention and recruitment goals.

  12. Assist Assistant Director of Veteran Affairs in Colleague, including the following modules: communications management, and satisfactory academic progress

  13. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Business, Accounting or related field and at least 1 to 2 years or related work experience
