PART TIME RECREATION AIDE PAY RATE: $18.33/HR GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Provides oversight during a variety of programs and activities in a recreation center or similar facility; performs related duties as required. This position will work Monday- Thursday afternoons/evenings and Saturday mornings, and is required to work a minimum of 10-18 hours weekly. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This position assists with the programs and activities held at a recreation center including activities for senior adults. This employee is also responsible for the maintenance of the facilities and assuring that the necessary equipment is available for patrons. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Athletic Coordinator and operates during afternoon and evening hours. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
JOB RELATED PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: This position involves light work requiring the employee to occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force and less force frequently to move objects. Physical activity related to this position may include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Sufficient visual acuity is required to prepare and analyze data figures and visually inspect equipment to find defects. An employee in this position may be subjected to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions and noise. The worker may be exposed to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Some knowledge of athletics and various games, sports and activities; general knowledge of the rules, materials and equipment requirements of a variety of recreation activities; ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other City Officials and employees, and with the general public; ability to effectively present facts and exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions; initiative and resourcefulness, good organization skills, thoroughness and dependability. ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Graduation from high school and some experience and knowledge with athletic programs and events; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. |
