The Shuttle Bus Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional transportation of students and staff. The driver conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections, follows all state and federal traffic laws, and ensures compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The position requires reliability, attentiveness, and strong communication to foster a respectful and safe environment for passengers. Afternoon and evening availability is required; this position is intended to be worked during afternoon/evening hours only.This is a part-time, 10 month, 10-15 hours per week position. Hourly rate range $27.00 - $32.00 Performance Responsibilities:Safely transport students and staff between designated sites, including daily NFASachem shuttle service, SPED trips, Career Pathways programs, and athletic activities.Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT regulations.Maintain accurate mileage, fuel, and passenger logs as required.Enforce NFA and state safety policies, including proper seating, seatbelt use (where applicable), and passenger conduct.Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding route changes, delays, or incidents.Provide courteous, professional assistance to students and staff, including those with special transportation needs.Adhere to established schedules and ensure timely arrivals/departures for all trips.Ensure that mechanical concerns or maintenance needs are attended to promptly.Participate in required safety meetings, professional development sessions, and training as directed.Performing other duties as assigned by administration.Professional Practices and Expectations:Demonstrates strong safety awareness and defensive driving skills.Maintains professionalism and patience when transporting students, including those with special needs.Possesses clear communication skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and supervisors.Shows dependability, punctuality, and the ability to manage unexpected scheduling changes.Maintains confidentiality and compliance with NFA policies and all state/federal transportation regulations.Working Conditions:Frequent sitting for extended periods while operating the vehicle; occasional standing and walking.Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs occasionally (e.g., equipment, student belongings).Exposure to varying weather conditions during passenger pick-up and drop-off.Flexibility for early morning, evening, or weekend schedules as required by Academy programs and events.Application Materials: Please submit a detailed cover letter along with a cover letter, resume and three recent letters of recommendation (dated within 1 year, including one from a direct supervisor).All required documents must be submitted with application to be considered for position(s).Only online applications will be accepted.
