    Job Description

    Pathologist

Care moves only as fast as a trustworthy diagnosis. You will turn specimens into clear, defensible answers that change treatment, protect patients from delay and error, and set the standard other clinicians rely on. This role matters because every report you sign is a decision someone else must act on.

    Performance Objectives

    • Sign out anatomic and clinical cases to agreed turnaround targets, with complete, actionable reports and a low amended-report rate.
    • Resolve complex, rare, and discordant cases through focused workup, consultation, and a documented diagnostic rationale.
    • Align with surgeons, oncologists, and laboratory leaders so staging, therapy, and follow-up proceed without avoidable delay.
    • Raise quality through peer review, proficiency testing, and corrective action that measurably cuts error and rework.
    • Tighten test utilization and report language so ordering clinicians act correctly the first time.
    • Coach laboratory and trainee colleagues so sign-out quality holds when volume rises.

    Environment & Resources

You will practice with histotechnologists, cytotechnologists, and clinical partners, reporting to laboratory medical leadership. Histology, immunohistochemistry, and subspecialty or digital consultation pathways support independent sign-out. Quality systems, instrumentation, and case volume are built for continuous improvement—not isolated coverage.

    Essential Qualifications

    • M.D. or D.O. (or equivalent), board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology.
    • Medical licensure active or obtainable, with a record of independent diagnostic sign-out.
    • Proven ability to meet turnaround and quality standards on a defined case mix.
    • Clear written and spoken communication with non-pathology clinicians.
    • Working command of CAP/CLIA quality requirements and proficiency testing.

    Role Selling Points

    • Diagnostic ownership with a direct line from your report to treatment decisions.
    • Quality and speed treated as one promise, not competing goals.
    • Influence over utilization, reporting, and peer review—not slide volume alone.
    • A practice designed for fit and lasting professional growth.

If your best work is a diagnosis that moves care forward, apply now. Show where you create the most value, and we will connect you with a role that needs exactly that.
