Summary:

  • Provide training and mentorship across all areas of Patient Access. Maintain daily staff schedules and quality outcomes reporting. Support departmental management in the development and monitoring of quality initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • 1. Ensure adequate department staffing/ Maintain department schedule a. Review staffing daily for all shifts based on volumes, service needs and budget parameters. b. Maintain and post department schedules c. Review and prepare bi-weekly payroll d. Flex schedule to fill in open shifts 2. Orient and mentor new and existing staff a. Orient all new associates b. Identify and recommend additional training for all associates when necessary c. Participate in development of competency standards d. Implement education plans for all areas of Patient Access e. Acts as on shift resource for patients and staff f. Provides feedback on associate performance 3. Monitor all areas for quality improvements a. Monitor processes for consistency with departmental policy b. Review and update departmental reports as needed. c. Review and monitor Associates’ RQA data, report significant findings to Manager d. Monitor RQA Workques as assigned e. Review billing rejection reports and report findings to Manager(s) f. Monitor Associate compliance with Medicare Advanced Beneficiary Notices, MSP questionnaire and IMM. g. Work with all clinical areas to ensure that Patient registration data collected follows protocols for entering orders, physicians, and other data as required by department. 4. Communicates in a variety of settings with Associates, Patients, Physicians, family members and other members of the health care team. a. Provides effective written and verbal communication of departmental needs in order to meet goals and objectives. b. Develops a positive working relationship across the health care team through consistent communication as a representative of Patient Access and Financial Services. c. Ensures the communication of any third party or governmental payer requirements. d. Facilitates routine departmental meetings to ensure that all Associates are receiving ongoing communication of relevant information. Ensures that patient inquiries are effectively and efficiently resolved through written and verbal communication 5. Pursues professional development in order to maintain a current knowledge base. a. Membership and involvement in relevant Professional organizations. b. Network with peers to enhance knowledge and benchmark processes for optimal departmental outcomes. c. Attends relevant internal and external education opportunities. d. Continually enhances knowledge of third-party payers, referral sources, and managed care requirements utilizing all available avenues e. Seeks current knowledge of the latest trends in healthcare customer service, Patient Access and Financial Services processes, and relevant technology advancements. 6. Carries out responsibilities with adherence to professional standards, a commitment to performance improvement, and an interest in professional growth and development. e. Maintains professional demeanor as an assertive proactive starter. Ability to work independently, set priorities, troubleshoot, multitask and exhibit attention to detail. f. Must be extremely resourceful, flexible and take initiative; is a good leader and communication hub for their respective area(s). g. Use verbal and written communication skills, keeping management informed of issues and important decisions, approach problems proactively and responsibly and providing updates regarding the progress of projects and resolution of open issues. Models a culture of service and upholds strong communication skills to facilitate good associate relations and to support the needs of internal customers and affiliated offices

Credentials:

    Education or Equivalent Experience:

    • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
    • 3 Years Hospital registration or office experience required.
