Schedule: This position follows a part-time schedule with hours of 11:00am - 7:30pm. Weekends and holidays are required. Flexibility may be required based on patient and operational needs.
- Obtains clinical, demographic and insurance information from the patient, guarantor, relative or police through an interview either over the phone or in person, or from documentation presented at the time of registration; correctly enters all information into the computer system.
- Completes all registration and consent forms, obtains necessary signatures, copies insurance cards and photo Identifications, produces labels and arm bands as required, and distributes the documentation to specified areas.
- Verifies insurance benefits and obtains necessary prior approvals, also reports back to the patient either directly or through patient letters verifying scheduled procedure, time, and date.
- Schedules patients in the Meditech CWS module in accordance with various departmental guidelines; informing patients of any pre-procedure instructions such as NPO etc.
- Quotes flat rate amounts via telephone and in person to physicians and or patients including anesthesia rates.
- Pre-registers scheduled inpatient and outpatients, also pre-registers scheduled patients after completing all phases of scheduling.
- Processes death certificates and release of remains accordingly.
- Notifies transporter to pick up patients when required (registration representative transport patients only as a last resort) and notifies Nursing Supervisor of inpatient admissions and obtains bed assignments.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable Federal, State and Regulatory agencies including confidentiality.
Requirements
1 or more years of experience
Third-party eligibility and general knowledge of medical and accounting terminology
Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills are required
Ability to type 40 WPM is required
Experience on the Meditech system a plus
