Schedule: Work Saturday-Sunday from 9:30 AM to 6 PM, Monday-Wednesday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with Thursday and Friday off.

About the role As a Patient Advocate you will make an impact by assisting patients to navigate the healthcare system. You will be a valued member of the Cognizant team and work collaboratively with patients, stakeholders and other teams.

In this role, you will:

• Assist patients complete forms, applications, and all Medicaid related paperwork. • Collect and review patient information to determine patient's eligibility. • Prepare documents, review for accuracy and completeness. • Provide technical assistance on agency issues, services, and programs. • Maintain and/or create files or record keeping systems. Sort, label files, and retrieve documents or other materials. • Interact with patients at the site to provide real-time service support, address patient concerns. • Develop and retain professional relationships with hospital staff. • Handle caseload, retrieve, sustain, and communicate all designated reports. • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to EMTALA and HIPAA guidelines. • Other duties as assigned.

Based on this role's business requirements, this is an onsite position requiring 5 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in city, state.

What you need to have to be considered

1+ year of work experience in health care, medical insurance, hospital, or clinic High School or GED required; associate degree or equivalent from 2-year college a plus. Bilingual Spanish required. Comfortable working in a fast-paced diverse environment Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Excellent communication skills to interact with patients and hospital staff. Ability to travel locally to other work sites. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel pivot tables, Project, and PowerPoint) Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare processes. Ability to work weekends after training is complete/depends on individual learning process. The right candidate will have to work Saturday and Sunday from 9:30am to 6pm and Mon-Wed 8am-4:30pm off Thursday and Friday

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $20.00 - $22.00/hr depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
